To some, Andrew Carnegie is best known for the libraries he built. Some 2,500 Carnegie libraries dot the globe, providing local communities with access to information they might not otherwise have. This Carnegie library, in Hawaii, was built in 1913 as the Library of Hawaii. It was enlarged in 1929 and again in 1992. A traditional Hawaiian lei decorates a bust of the donor.
